Ace Operator is a free and open-source software licensed under the terms and conditions of the LGPL.  In addition,  Ace Operator bundles additional free software that have different licenses. Please review the license carefully and make sure that your use of the software is compliant with the license terms and conditions of Ace Operator and other bundled software. Please note that by downloading Ace Operator, you are implicitly agreeing to terms and conditions of the license agreements. Click here to read the license agreements.

Please verify that the system you are going to install Ace Operator meets the system requirements for installing Ace Operator.

Please read the installation instructions carefully before proceeding to the download section.

Installation

Ace Operator is supported on Linux x86 and Microsoft Windows operating systems. Since Ace Operator has been developed using Java, you can take the source code and easily port it to other operating systems as well (you need to be a proficient Java developer to build from sources).  The binary (precompiled) versions provide Ace Operator in ready to install packages. If you are using Linux or Windows and want to install and try out Ace Operator, we recommend that you download the appropriate binary version.

Installing the Linux binary distribution

The Linux download file contains the Ace Operator software binaries, the user manuals and most of the third-party software you need. Download the file, complete the installation, and you're ready to use Ace Operator. The software is packaged using RPMs. RPM is a popular format for software packages for the Linux operating system. Some Linux distributions may not include the RPM tool. Visit http://www.rpm.org to download and install RPM on your system.
RPM download and installation
  1. Download the latest release of the software. On some browsers you may need to press the shift key, then click.
  2. Login as root into a Linux console.
  3. Enter the following commands:

    # rpm -Uvh $download_directory/$downloaded_rpm

    where $download_directory is the directory where you downloaded the Ace software file and $downloaded_rpm is the name of the file you downloaded.
  4. The above command will unpack the Ace Operator software into the directory - /opt/ace.
  5. Perform the post-installation steps as described in the user manual.

Installing the Windows binary distribution

 The Windows download file contains the Ace Operator software, the user manuals and most of the third-party software you need. Download the file, complete the installation, and you're ready to use Ace Operator.

  1. The software is packaged in a single zip file that you need to download and extract the content. Download the latest release. On some browsers you may need to press the shift key, then click.
  2. Login to desktop environment.
  3. Using WINZIP or some other utility (may already be included with the operating system), unpack the distribution into C:\ folder. It will create a C:\ace folder.
  4. Perform the post-installation steps as described in the user manual.

Installing the source distribution

 The source code download package contains one file:

  • ace.tar.gz
    This file contains the Ace Operator source code and libraries from 3rd party vendors. Download the file. On some browsers you may need to press the shift key, then click. 

Unpack the file using a utility such as gzip, tar (Linux) or WINZIP (Windows). Follow the build and installation instructions as outlined in the Ace Operator Source Code page.
